1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TrailSplits — including the website at trailsplits.com, the mobile application, the route planner, and all related services — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

TrailSplits provides route planning, trail information, elevation analysis, GPX file generation, live activity tracking, and community route sharing for outdoor sports including trail running, hiking, cycling, and ski touring. Features may change over time as we improve the platform.

3. User Accounts

Some features require a free account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials. You must provide accurate information and promptly update it if it changes. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.

4. Safety and Assumption of Risk

Trail running, hiking, cycling, and other outdoor activities are inherently dangerous. You are solely responsible for your own safety. TrailSplits provides route data, elevation profiles, difficulty ratings, and trail information for informational purposes only. This data does not replace proper preparation, experience, and judgment in the field.

Trail conditions change due to weather, erosion, construction, and seasonal factors. Always check current conditions before heading out and carry appropriate equipment. TrailSplits does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data.

5. User Content

Routes, photos, comments, and other content you create and share on TrailSplits remain yours. By publishing content, you grant TrailSplits a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, distribute, and promote that content within the service. You may delete your content at any time, which removes the licence going forward.

You must not upload content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, or harmful. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

The TrailSplits name, logo, and original software are owned by TrailSplits. Map data is sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors under the ODbL licence. Elevation data is derived from the Copernicus DEM. You may not reproduce, modify, or redistribute TrailSplits software without permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

TrailSplits is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrailSplits and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to personal injury during outdoor activities.

8. Privacy

We collect only the data necessary to operate the service. Live tracking location data is shared only with viewers you explicitly invite via a share link. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

9. Modifications

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
