Mountain hut

Grassenbiwak SAC

About this hut: An unstaffed high-mountain bivouac; its normal summer route and winter/snow conditions require different equipment and assessment.

Notice: The section describes a proposed replacement bivouac for 2027, with building-permit and funding decisions still part of the published process. The project page does not provide a confirmed construction closure or replacement-opening date; confirm future arrangements with the section. Source read 2026-10-24.

Path access notices

normal bivouac approach
Notice: The section says the unstaffed bivouac generally cannot provide current local condition reports. Plan independently and assess snow, wet rock and the exposed ridge on site. The summer no-glacier statement does not clear winter conditions. Source read 2026-10-24.
