One flat loop from the 1928 Olympic Stadium. It heads north on Amstelveenseweg into the Vondelpark, east through the park, then south through the Rijksmuseum passage and down Hobbemakade and Beethovenstraat to a small Zuidas loop at km 7 to 8 and back north to Stadionweg at km 10. Churchill-laan, Rijnstraat and President Kennedylaan lead through a cycle tunnel onto the Amsteldijk for the long rural out-and-back along the west bank of the Amstel to Ouderkerk aan de Amstel at about km 19 to 20, returning on the east bank with runners visible across the river. A hairpin at the Utrechtsebrug at km 26 sends the field through Overamstel and the Amstel Business Park, then north on Rozenburglaan and Hugo de Vrieslaan, west across the Torontobrug onto Stadhouderskade at about km 37 and back through the Vondelpark to the stadium. The organizer's profile stays between about minus 4 and plus 5 m; aid stations serve Maurten drink from 5 km, gels at 18 and 30 km, and personal bottles are not delivered.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Plan for the 25 km cut-off, not the six-hour headline

The cut-offs are fixed clock times: 10:31 at 5 km and 13:18 at 25 km. A wave 6 runner leaving at 09:43 has 48 minutes to 5 km and 3 h 35 to 25 km, about 8:36 per kilometre, which is tighter than the 17:00 finish closure that sits 7 h 17 after that wave.

  2. Know your start area before race morning

Area A is on the stadium field, open from 07:45, and Area B on Stadionweg from 08:00, each with its own bag drop. Your wave and area are emailed only one week before the race.

    More detail

Area A is on the stadium field through the marathon gate, open from 07:45, with waves 1 and 2 on the field by 08:50 and bag drop in tents around the stadium from 07:30; Area B is on Stadionweg with access from 08:00 and bag drop on Stadionplein from 07:45. Wave and area are only emailed one week before the race.

  3. Decide now whether to race on Maurten or carry your own

Maurten drink is served from km 5 and gels only at km 18 and 30, and personal bottles are not delivered. Bibs must be collected at RAI by Saturday evening, so a Saturday-night arrival needs a proxy with your QR email.

The organizer serves Maurten drink mix in cups from 5 km, gels only at 18 and 30 km and a bar at the finish, and states that personal bottles cannot be delivered to aid stations. Bibs must be collected at RAI Amsterdam by Saturday evening, so a Saturday-night arrival needs a proxy collector with your QR email.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Europe/Amsterdam.

Time limit: Six hours, gun or chip not stated; the stadium finish closes at 17:00

How this sheet applies the limit

The organizer allows six hours and closes the stadium finish at 17:00, which is eight hours after the first wave and 7 h 17 after wave 6, without saying whether the six hours is gun or chip time. Fixed-clock cut-offs apply on the way: 10:31 at 5 km, 11:13 at 10 km, 11:55 at 15 km, 12:36 at 20 km and 13:18 at 25 km, after which runners are taken out of the race. This sheet applies six hours from your wave start and does not validate the intermediate gates.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.
