What to expect on the course

  • Through the centre past Republic Square and the Clock Tower to Hadrian's Gate at about km 4
  • Düden Park and its waterfall around km 13
  • A drop of about 30 m to beach level near km 15, then flat along the Lara beaches past SandLand
  • The one real climb, about 35 m, near km 26 to 27 on the way back

The line follows the organizer's linked marathon course file, the one its 2026 athlete guide points to, matched to the streets; the 2027 route is not yet published.

Read the full course description

A single out-and-back along the Antalya coast on roads closed to traffic until 15:00, starting and finishing at the Ataturk Cultural Center footbridge by the Glass Pyramid; the organizer is an AIMS member and calls the course flat. The first kilometres run east along the cliff-top Konyaalti road past the Archaeological Museum and Ataturk Park into the centre, by Republic Square and the Clock Tower to Hadrian's Gate at about km 4 and Karaalioglu Park. The route then follows the coast road south-east past Erdal Inonu Park and the old Lara road to Duden Park and its waterfall around km 13. Near km 15 it drops about 30 m to beach level and runs flat along the Lara beaches past the SandLand sand-sculpture museum to the turn, on a short inland spur, at about km 21. The return retraces the same roads, with the one real climb, about 35 m, near km 26 to 27, and then 15 km on the cliff top back through the centre to the finish. The organizer gives no climb figure; the map profile shows about 180 m of gain in all. Fifteen aid stations sit about every 2.5 km from km 3 with water, fruit, sports drink and medical cover, and toilets are on the route. Pacers are not mentioned.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Treat 15:00 as a hard clock, not six hours of chip time

The finish closes at 15:00, six hours after the gun, whatever your chip time; if you need close to six hours, start near the front.

    More detail

The finish line closes at 15:00 for every race, six hours after the 09:00 gun, and the roads reopen then; later runners may finish on the pavement but are not ranked, and a sweep vehicle follows the last runner. Results are net time, but the close is not, so if you expect to need close to six hours, line up near the front and start on the gun.

  2. Reach Antalya by Saturday evening to collect your bib

Bibs are handed out only in the Glass Pyramid on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 April, 10:00 to 19:00, in person with identification. No race-morning pickup.

    More detail

Bibs and chips are handed out only inside the Glass Pyramid on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 April 2027, 10:00 to 19:00, against identification and a signed waiver. There is no race-morning pickup and no collection for someone else, so arrive by Saturday afternoon; the race page names AYT as the airport. Any personal drinks for the course are also handed in at pickup.

  3. Bank nothing on the drop to Lara; the climb back comes at km 26

The drop to Lara near km 15 comes back as a 35 m climb near km 26 to 27; run the first half evenly and save something for it.

    More detail

The course is one out-and-back, so the drop of about 30 m to Lara beach near km 15 returns as the only real climb, about 35 m near km 26 to 27, soon after the turn at about km 21. Run the descent and the flat beach at even effort and keep something for the climb and the cliff-top finish; aid comes about every 2.5 km.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Europe/Istanbul.

Time limit: 6 hours; the finish closes at 15:00, then roads reopen and later finishers are not ranked

How this sheet applies the limit

The marathon has 6 hours, and the finish line closes at 15:00 for every race, six hours after the 09:00 gun. The roads then reopen: runners still out may carry on along the pavement but are not ranked, and a sweep vehicle follows the last runner. Results use net chip time, but the close is a clock time, so minutes spent reaching the start line come off your six hours. No intermediate cut-offs are published.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.
