Read the full course description

One continuous course from the Tonhalle to a finish 1.3 km south on the Rhine promenade. It runs north along the river to loop the Nordpark past the Aquazoo at about 5 km, returns through Golzheim and Derendorf, drops past the Hofgarten to the Oberkasseler Brücke at about 13 km and holds the halfway mark in a long loop through Oberkassel, Niederkassel and Lörick before crossing the same bridge back around 22 km. The second half takes in the Königsallee, Prinz-Georg-Straße and the Zoopark near 28 to 31 km, Berliner Allee and Friedrichstadt, the Medienhafen and the Landtag at 38 to 39 km, a second pass of the Königsallee and the finish in the Altstadt. The organizer calls it mostly flat and suited to fast times; the notable grades are the two bridge ramps and the Hofgarten ramp.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Enter before 4 April 2027 or accept a late bib without your name

Regular entry closes on 4 April 2027; late entry from 7 April costs 25 euro extra and the bib carries no name. The fee steps from 90 to 120 euro by bib count, not by date.

    More detail

Regular entry closes on 4 April 2027; late entry reopens on 7 April at 10:00 with a 25 euro surcharge and a non-personalised bib. The price also steps from 90 to 120 euro with bib count, so the fee depends on when other runners enter, not on a calendar date.

  2. Budget the finish from the 09:45 gun, not from your chip start

The only published limit is the 2026 finish closure at 15:45, six hours from the 09:45 gun, so plan against it. In 2026 streets reopened behind the field from about 12:30 in the north and 14:00 on the left bank.

    More detail

The only published limit is the 2026 finish closure at 15:45, a fixed six-hour clock from the gun, and the organizer has not stated a 2027 figure. Plan against 15:45 and note that the city reopened streets behind the field from about 12:30 in the north and 14:00 on the left bank.

  3. Collect your bib on Friday or Saturday and agree a meeting point away from the start

Collect on Friday or Saturday: in 2026 the Rheinterrasse issued bibs Friday 12:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 19:00, and no race-day hours are published. Meet away from the start: the finish is 1.3 km south in the Altstadt.

    More detail

In 2026 bibs were issued at the Rheinterrasse on Joseph-Beuys-Ufer on Friday 12:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 09:00 to 19:00, and no race-day pickup hours are published. The start is on the same riverbank as the village, but the finish is 1.3 km south in the Altstadt.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Europe/Berlin.

Time limit: Not yet published for 2027; in 2026 the finish closed at 15:45, six hours after the gun

How this sheet applies the limit

No 2027 time limit is published. In 2026 the organizer closed the marathon finish at 15:45, six hours after the 09:45 gun, with a sweeper vehicle behind the field, and the same 09:45 start is published for 2027, so this sheet assumes a 15:45 closure counted from the gun. No intermediate cutoffs are published; the city reopened northern streets from about 12:30 and the left bank around 14:00 in 2026.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.
