One closed-road loop from Friedrichswall in front of the Neues Rathaus, run under German athletics rules on an officially measured course. It heads south past the Maschsee and the stadium to Döhren around km 7 to 8, comes back through the city centre at Aegidientorplatz, Kröpcke and the main station near km 11 to 12, skirts the zoo and the Eilenriede forest around km 14 to 17, then works through Podbielskistraße, List and Vahrenwald before returning by the university quarter, the Leine at the Clevertor and the Hohes Ufer to the Landtag and the finish. The organizer calls it one of the flattest courses in Germany with a 19 m height range; that is a range, not accumulated climb. Aid is every 5 km with refreshment points between, and pacers run from 3:00 to 5:00.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Declare the right start block at entry, because it cannot be changed on the day

Your block comes from the time you declare at entry and is printed on the bib: A under 2:50, B to 3:30, C to 3:59:59, D for 4:00 or slower. In 2026 changes were possible only through the change link until 1 April, never on site.

    More detail

The block letter printed on the bib is the only entrance you may use: A for championship runners and sub-2:50, B to 3:30, C to 3:59:59, D for 4:00 and slower or no declared time. In 2026 block changes were possible only through the personal change link until 1 April, with no changes on site.

  2. Treat Sunday bib pickup as a last resort

The Sunday window closes at 08:30 for a 10:00 gun, and in 2026 the expo was at the Heinz von Heiden Arena, not the start. Collect on Friday or Saturday, or let someone collect with your confirmation.

    More detail

The Sunday expo window closes at 08:30 for a 10:00 gun, and in 2026 the expo was at the Heinz von Heiden Arena rather than at the Friedrichswall start, so a same-morning collection adds a transfer before the start area opens at 09:00. A third party may collect your bib with the confirmation on Friday or Saturday.

  3. Budget the finish against the 16:00 clock, not a six-hour chip allowance

Everyone must finish by 16:00, so block D at 10:05 has 5 h 55. The slowest official pacer is 5:00, and bag return ends at 17:00.

    More detail

The organizer states everyone must have reached the finish by 16:00 and the sweeper removes runners over the six-hour target. A block D runner starting at 10:05 has 5 h 55, the 5:00 pacer group is the slowest official pacing option, and bag return ends at 17:00.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Europe/Berlin.

Time limit: Everyone must finish by 16:00, so block D at 10:05 has 5 h 55; sweeper vehicle at six hours

How this sheet applies the limit

The organizer states that everyone must have reached the finish by 16:00 and separately describes a six-hour target time with a sweeper vehicle. Both coincide for the 10:00 start; block D leaves at 10:05 and therefore has 5 h 55 to the fixed closure. No intermediate cutoffs are published, and whether a chip-time allowance exists is not stated, so this sheet budgets against the 16:00 clock.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.
