  • The only rise, gentle, through St. Magdalena to the high point near Harbach at km 5 to 6
  • Along the Donaulände past the Lentos and the Brucknerhaus around km 9

Read the full course description

A point-to-point, AIMS-measured city course on both banks of the Danube. The field crosses the river on the VOEST motorway bridge in the first kilometre, runs east along Freistaedter Strasse to a hairpin near km 2.5 and back, then rises gently through St. Magdalena to the high point near Harbach at km 5 to 6. It descends Leonfeldner Strasse through Urfahr, recrosses the Danube on the Nibelungenbruecke near km 8 beside the finish, and follows the Donaulaende past the Lentos and the Brucknerhaus around km 9. The route then heads south through the eastern districts to km 14 and works back north into the centre by km 18, looping through the old town to pass close to the Hauptplatz near km 21. The second half runs south past the Hauptbahnhof to a turnaround on Waldeggstrasse near km 24, loops through the southern districts to its far point near km 30, and returns to rejoin the km 14 to 21 section, run a second time from about km 35 into the Hauptplatz. The organizer's profile stays between about 254 and 269 m, so the course is flat on closed roads. Aid stations stand at km 5.2, 9.1, 14.2, 18.2, 22.7, 26.8, 31.7, 35.3 and 39.3, and pacers run 3:00 to 4:45 in 15-minute steps.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Enter while the 75 euro band lasts

On 24 September 2026 about 166 entries remained at 75 euro before the price steps up; entry closes on 18 March 2027 and there are no refunds.

    More detail

The price depends on how many have entered: 75 euro for the first 1,100 entries, then 84 and 89 euro, and 110 euro after 2,700. On 24 September 2026 the platform showed 1,866 of 2,800 places left, so about 166 entries remained at 75 euro. Entry closes at 23:59 on 18 March 2027 or when the field fills, and a paid place can be swapped or carried over, never refunded.

  2. Collect your bib in Linz before race day

Bibs only at the TipsArena on Friday 9 or Saturday 10 April, with no Sunday pickup and no posting.

    More detail

Bibs are printed on the spot at the TipsArena, Ziegeleistrasse 76, on Friday 9 April from 12:00 to 19:00 and Saturday 10 April from 10:00 to 18:00; there is no Sunday pickup and nothing is posted. Bring the registration confirmation emailed shortly before the race, or send someone with it. Self-supplied drinks are handed in there too and wait on the second table at each aid station.

  3. Drop your bag near the finish, then walk to the bridge

Drop your bag at the Brucknerhaus from 07:00, then walk about 13 minutes to the start; your bib is a free ticket on race day.

    More detail

Bags go in from 07:00 at the Brucknerhaus near the finish area, about 13 minutes on foot from the start; the course closes to traffic from 07:00 and the A7 from 04:00. Shuttle buses run from the Hauptbahnhof and the Industriezeile car parks to Holzstrasse, six minutes from the start, and your bib is a free Linz Linien ticket on race day. Marathon runners line up on the Vienna-bound carriageway.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Europe/Vienna.

Time limit: The finish closes at 15:30, six hours after the 09:30 start

How this sheet applies the limit

The marathon FAQ closes the finish for all running events at 15:30, six hours after the single 09:30 start, which the organizer marks as subject to change. No elapsed-time limit or intermediate cut-off is published. Because the limit is a clock time, a runner who crosses the start line a few minutes after the gun has slightly less than six hours. The 2027 time table has not been published yet.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.

Read the full entry and pickup rules

Open on the Time2win platform until 23:59 on 18 March 2027 or until the 2,800 marathon places are gone, first come, first served. The fee rises with the entry count: 75 euro for the first 1,100, then 84 and 89 euro, and 110 euro after 2,700 entries. On 24 September 2026 the platform showed 1,866 places left, so the 75 euro band was still open. Entries cannot be cancelled: a runner swap costs 10 euro and a one-time carry-over to the next edition 30 euro, and every change after 18 March 2027 costs 10 euro. Under-18s need a signed guardian consent. Bibs are collected at the TipsArena on Friday 9 or Saturday 10 April, with no race-day pickup and nothing posted.
