Read the full course description
A single lap on wide asphalt roads, starting and finishing at Messe Frankfurt. It is very flat, staying between 89 m and 117 m above sea level with about 83 m of climbing in total, and the two bridges over the Main bring short ramps. The first 12 km loop through the centre, into the tower canyons of the banking district near km 2, along Bockenheimer Landstrasse by the Palmengarten at km 5, to Opernplatz at km 6 and the Hauptwache and Eschenheimer Turm near km 8, then north to Bremer Strasse at km 10. The Alte Bruecke takes the field over the Main at km 13, and the route heads west along the south bank through Niederrad to Goldstein, where halfway falls, and Schwanheim, recrossing the river on the Schwanheimer Bruecke at km 24. After the old town of Hoechst around km 27, Mainzer Landstrasse runs long and straight from km 30 to Europaallee at km 35. The field passes the Messe near km 36, then loops back past Opernplatz, the Hauptwache and the Eschenheimer Turm between km 37 and 40 before the Messeturm and a red-carpet finish inside the Festhalle. Full stations come every 5 km with water points at the 2.5 km marks from km 12.5, and pacers run for 2:59 to 5:29.

Three decisions to make before race day
The race is full, so only a transfer or the waiting list gets you in
The marathon sold out on 30 August 2026 with no late entry on site. Join the waiting list or take over a place online by 4 October 2026 for 20 euro.
More detail
The organizer declared the marathon sold out on 30 August 2026, and its FAQ says there will be no late entry on site. The remaining ways in are the waiting list on the registration platform or taking over a registered runner's place, which has to be done online by 4 October 2026 for a 20 euro fee. Do not taper towards a place you do not yet hold.
Collect your bib before race morning
Race-morning pickup ends at 09:30 and bags go only to hall 1 from 08:00, so collect on Friday 23 or Saturday 24 October. Meet supporters in hall 1, level 2 or at P1.
More detail
Race-morning collection runs only from 07:00 to 09:30, bags are accepted only in hall 1, level 1 from 08:00 and never at the start, and the first wave leaves at 10:00. Collecting on Friday 23 or Saturday 24 October leaves Sunday for the bag drop and the walk to your block. Supporters cannot enter the finish area, so meet them in hall 1, level 2 or at area P1.
Passing the Messe at km 36 is not the finish
The route passes the Messe near km 36, then loops back through the centre before the Festhalle finish. Save something for the last six kilometres and pace from your own watch.
More detail
After the long straight on Mainzer Landstrasse the route runs past the Messe near km 36, then loops back through the centre past Opernplatz and the Hauptwache before finishing in the Festhalle. Keep something for those last six kilometres. The 5 km clocks show time since the first wave, not your own, so pace from your watch or a pacer group.
