Read the full course description
A single loop on traffic-free roads, measured by the DLV to AIMS rules on 2 September 2025 and marked with a blue line; the map shows the 2026 route. From the Schlossplatz the first 10 km tour the city: north through the Kreuzviertel to Kanonierplatz at km 4.3, east past the Nordplatz, back south along Kanalstraße and the Promenade to Servatiiplatz at km 7.5, and into the old town at Ludgeristraße, km 9.5. The course then rounds the Aasee by Bismarckallee and Scharnhorststraße near km 12, rises gently past the university clinics on Vesaliusweg at km 14.5 and heads out by Gievenbecker Weg and Altenberger Straße to Nienberge, where halfway and the highest ground, about 85 m, fall. The second half is open Münsterland countryside west past Haus Vögeding at km 25 to Roxel at km 30, then back east across the A1 into Gievenbeck around km 35, past Vesaliusweg again at km 40 and into the old town to the flag-lined Prinzipalmarkt. The organizer calls the course essentially without climbs; terrain heights stay between about 59 and 87 m. In 2026 there were 15 stations from km 4.3, about every 2.5 km, alternating water points with food points (cola from km 25.3), and pacers from 3:00 to 6:00.

Three decisions to make before race day
Collect your bib by Saturday evening
Pick up your bib on Friday or Saturday at the Gesamtschule Münster-Mitte. In 2026 the Sunday desk closed at 08:30, half an hour before the start, and own bottles are taken only before race day.
More detail
In 2026 bibs came only from the Gesamtschule Münster-Mitte on Jüdefelderstraße, near the start: Friday 14:00 to 19:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 19:00. The Sunday desk opened 07:00 to 08:30, half an hour before the 09:00 gun, and the organizer warned of long race-morning queues. Own bottles for the food points are accepted only on Friday or Saturday, and nothing is posted.
Treat 15:00 as a close measured from the gun
The finish closed at 15:00 in 2026, six hours after the 09:00 gun, so a start from the last block leaves under six hours. A broom bus follows from about km 16.
More detail
In 2026 the finish closed at 15:00, six hours after the 09:00 start. The four blocks follow marathon best, with runners over 4:00 and first-timers in the last one, so a back-block runner who needs minutes to reach the line has under six hours. A broom bus runs from about km 16, runners it passes continue on the pavement, and a 6:00 pacer runs.
Expect fresh legs around you from km 15
The relay starts at 09:15 and the 28 km field joins at about km 15, with 10 km and 6 km races starting later on the same roads. Run your own pace.
More detail
The relay starts 15 minutes behind you from the Schlossplatz and changes runners near km 10.5, in Nienberge and in Roxel. At about km 15 the 28 km race, started at 10:10 on the Kardinal-von-Galen-Ring, merges from Domagkstraße, and the 10 km and 6 km races start at 12:00 in Roxel and 13:00 in Gievenbeck on the same roads. Run your own pace.
