A single city loop certified by JAAF, World Athletics and AIMS, from the Prefectural Government offices to a finish inside Osaka Castle Park. It heads north on Temmabashi-suji to about km 4, returns down Tenjinbashi-suji and crosses the Okawa near km 6, passes Nakanoshima, then runs south down Mido-suji from about km 9 to Namba near km 12. Three out-and-backs follow: Minato-dori, turning near Ichioka at about km 17; Naniwa-suji, turning at Yanagi-dori near km 24 after passing Kyocera Dome Osaka and Taishobashi around km 20; and a short one on Matsuyamachi-suji turning near km 31. The organizer's profile starts about 15 m up, drops in the first kilometre and stays near sea level until the one real climb, about 20 m onto the Uemachi plateau between km 31 and 33 near Shitennoji. It falls along Katsuyama-dori to km 35, then runs north on Imazato-suji to km 40 and west into the castle park. In 2026 there were 15 water stations, the first at km 6 and then about every 2.5 km, food at six of them, and pace advisors timed from the gun.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Check your wave against the clock cut-offs

Wave 3 starts at 09:45 with 6 h 30 before the 16:15 close; in 2026 checkpoints closed at fixed times such as km 34.2 by 15:02.

    More detail

The course closes at 16:15, and Wave 3 starts at 09:45 with 6 h 30 on the clock. In 2026 each checkpoint closed at a fixed time, for example km 22.6 by 13:19 and km 34.2 by 15:02, and a vehicle stopped anyone it overtook. From a Wave 3 start, plan to hold about 9:00 min/km or faster, counting the time to cross the line.

  2. Keep something for the Uemachi climb after km 31

After 30 flat km the course rises about 20 m between km 31 and 33 onto the Uemachi plateau; run it by effort and take the time back on the descent to km 35.

    More detail

The organizer's profile is flat near sea level for 30 km, then rises about 20 m between km 31 and 33 onto the Uemachi plateau, straight after the Matsuyamachi-suji turn. Run that rise by effort rather than pace; the time comes back on the descent along Katsuyama-dori to km 35. The first kilometre also drops about 15 m, so do not bank time there.

  3. Set aside Friday or Saturday for INTEX Osaka

Bibs only in person at INTEX Osaka Hall 6 on 26 or 27 February, with photo identification; no race-day pickup and no proxy.

    More detail

Bibs are issued only in person at the EXPO in INTEX Osaka Hall 6, on Friday 26 February 11:00 to 19:00 or Saturday 27 February 10:00 to 18:00. There is no race-day pickup and no proxy; bring photo identification, a passport for overseas runners. The hall is in the bay area near Nakafuto station, across the city from the start.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Asia/Tokyo.

Time limit: 7 hours from the Wave 1 gun; the course closes at 16:15

How this sheet applies the limit

The 2027 outline gives 7 hours, from the 09:15 Wave 1 gun to a 16:15 close, and the 2026 outline stated the limit runs from the Wave 1 gun, so later waves have less: Wave 3 goes at 09:45, leaving 6 h 30. In 2026 ten checkpoints closed at clock times, from km 5.0 by 10:44 to km 41.4 by 16:07, and a vehicle at constant pace stopped runners it overtook. The 2027 checkpoint table is not yet published.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.
