A certified city course that the organizer calls the flattest in Europe, at sea level and sheltered from wind. From the Plaza de España district it heads north to the Capuchinos ring road, drops along Torneo to the river and crosses the Puente de San Telmo into Los Remedios and Triana, loops the Cartuja island past the stadium and returns over the Puente de la Barqueta around km 17 to 18. An out-and-back at the Glorieta Olímpica leads to the Sánchez Pizjuán and Santa Justa area near halfway, then the eastern avenues, La Palmera and the Benito Villamarín stadium around km 30, Plaza de España and a third pass of the Capuchinos ring before the Alameda de Hércules and the old town, where km 40 sits by the cathedral ahead of the final kilometres through María Luisa. The organizer publishes no elevation figure; a runner's account reports old cobbles around km 9 and tram rails in the km 40 to 41 streets.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Know your wave before you compute your finish budget

You have 6 h from the last runner's 09:00 start and the finish closes at 15:00, so an 08:30 starter has up to about 30 minutes more. Your wave comes by email and is printed on the bib.

    More detail

The limit is six hours from the last runner's start with the finish closing at a fixed 15:00, and the passage table shows the last runner leaving at 09:00 while the first leaves at 08:30. A last-wave runner has exactly six hours; an early-wave runner has up to about 30 minutes more, and the wave is only communicated by email and on the bib.

  2. Arrive by Saturday 20 February 20:00 at the latest

Bibs are issued only at FIBES, on the eastern edge of the city, on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 February, 10:00 to 20:00, and never on race day. Fit the trip around the Saturday 5K Breakfast Run if you are doing it.

    More detail

Bibs are issued only at FIBES on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 February, 10:00 to 20:00, and nothing is issued on race day. If you also want the 5K Breakfast Run on Saturday at 09:30 from Plaza de América, plan the FIBES trip around it; FIBES is on the eastern edge of the city, well away from the start.

  3. Plan the bag drop, start and finish as three different places

The bag drop is at Avenida Santiago Montoto by the port (06:45 to 15:30), the start is on Avenida de María Luisa and the finish is about a kilometre away. Allow for the walk to the start, and trust only the 2027 rules and FAQ.

    More detail

The bag drop is at Avenida Santiago Montoto by the port and aquarium, open 06:45 to 15:30, the start is on Avenida de María Luisa and the finish about a kilometre away on Paseo de las Delicias. Budget the walk to the start after dropping your bag, and use only the 2027 rules and FAQ figures, since the 2026 guide still shows earlier closures.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Europe/Madrid.

Time limit: 6 h from the last runner's start, finish closed at 15:00; early waves get up to about 30 min more

How this sheet applies the limit

The 2027 rules give six hours from the last runner's start and close the finish at a fixed 15:00. The passage table shows the first runner leaving at 08:30 and the last at 09:00, so early waves have up to about 30 minutes more clock time than six hours; individual wave times are notified by email and printed on the bib. No intermediate cutoffs are published, only projected last-runner passage times, and the 2026 runner guide still states an older 14:30 closure. This sheet checks the 15:00 finish clock only.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.

What each source confirms
  • 2027 race rules: The 21 February 2027 date, the 08:30 start, the start and finish streets and the full street list, the six-hour limit from the last starter with a 15:00 closure, net-time ranking, expo-only bib pickup and non-transferability.
  • 2027 frequently asked questions: The Casino de la Exposición start, waves notified by email and on the bib, start boxes with no changes at the expo, pacers, the bag drop location and hours, the FIBES address and the registration closing date. One wave answer still carries 2026 wording.
  • Route and passage-time pages: The flattest-in-Europe claim, the 2026 map image used for the reconstruction, and the passage-time table with first and last runner start times and the 15:00 finish.
