Read the full course description
An out-and-back road marathon on the lake road round the south of the Sea of Galilee, about 200 m below sea level, starting and finishing on the Tiberias promenade at the southern end of town; the half marathon starts with it. The course heads south on Route 90 through a string of roundabouts, passes the Hamat Tiberias hot springs at about km 2 and the Zinbari beach station at km 5, and rounds the southern tip of the lake at the Tzemach roundabout near km 10.7. It then follows Route 92 up the eastern shore past Ma'agan and Ha'On to a U-turn at Ein Gev at about km 21, and the second half comes back the same way. The organizer calls it one of the fastest courses in Israel and gives no climb figure; this map stays between about 207 m and 190 m below sea level, with no real hill. Small bottles of water are handed out every 2.5 km and at the start and finish, and in 2026 gels came at km 5, 8.3, 10.7, 31.4, 33.8 and 37. Pacers from Marathon Club run for 3:00 to 4:15 in 15-minute steps.

Three decisions to make before race day
Plan on six hours from the gun and confirm the start time
The limit is six hours with no basis stated, and the start is listed as both 06:30 and 07:00: plan on six hours from the gun, an even 8:32 per km.
More detail
The limit is six hours, but the organizer does not say whether it counts from the gun or your own crossing, and its pages give both 06:30 and 07:00 for the start. Treat six hours from the gun as the safe reading, an even 8:32 per km, and check the final schedule the organizer publishes before race day. No intermediate cut-offs are published.
Carry your own gels for the middle 20 km
In 2026 there were no gels between km 10.7 and km 31.4, and outside drinks are banned, so carry your own fuel for the east shore.
More detail
Small water bottles come every 2.5 km, but in 2026 gels were handed out only at km 5, 8.3 and 10.7 and again at km 31.4, 33.8 and 37, none on Route 92 between. Taking drinks from outsiders or from a runner beside you is banned, so any other fuel must be on you from the start.
Collect your kit before race morning if you can
Kits are handed out from 04:30 on race morning, when the roads close; the 2027 early pickup is not yet published. A yes on the health questions means bringing a medical certificate.
More detail
Kit distribution opens with the race compound at 04:30 on race day, when the roads also close, and the start follows at 07:00. The 2027 early pickup is not yet published; in 2026 late entrants could collect only on the Thursday, 15:00 to 20:00, or on race morning. Anyone who answered yes to a health question at entry must bring a medical certificate.

Entry for 2027 is open on the organizer's Gold-Fish platform with no ballot. The marathon, which doubles as the Israeli championship, costs 260 shekels, and no price rise or closing date is published. Runners must be 18 on race day, entries are personal and cannot be transferred, and entry includes a health declaration. Cancellation costs 5 percent or 100 shekels, whichever is lower, plus the kit if already issued; the regulations still carry last year's final cancellation date. The kit has no shirt, which is sold separately. The regulations let the organizer cancel or move the race for war, emergency or government orders, with a replacement date where possible; the organizer's results show the marathon was run on 9 January 2026.
