What to expect on the course

  • The first 6 km lose about 30 m from Nishi-Shinjuku along Yasukuni-dori and Sotobori-dori
  • An out-and-back on Chuo-dori to Ueno-hirokoji at km 10.6, then the Asakusa Kaminarimon turn
  • Kuramae Bridge at km 20 and again at km 28, either side of the Tomioka Hachimangu turnaround at km 24
  • Back through Nihombashi and Ginza 4-chome at km 33 to Hibiya
  • A last out-and-back on Hibiya-dori, turning at Tamachi at km 37.5

The map follows the published course with its four turnarounds and both Kuramae Bridge crossings; distances along it are approximate.

A point-to-point through central Tokyo. It drops from Nishi-Shinjuku along Yasukuni-dori and Sotobori-dori, losing about 30 m in the first six kilometres, passes Iidabashi and Suidobashi to Kanda, runs an out-and-back on Chuo-dori to Ueno-hirokoji at 10.6 km, returns through Nihombashi and heads east to the Asakusa Kaminarimon turn, crosses Kuramae Bridge at 20 km, takes Kiyosumi-dori south past halfway in Ryogoku to the Tomioka Hachimangu turnaround at 24 km, recrosses Kuramae Bridge at 28 km and comes back through Nihombashi and Ginza 4-chome at 33 km to Hibiya. A final out-and-back on Hibiya-dori to Tamachi at 37.5 km leads to the finish on Gyoko-dori in front of Tokyo Station. The organizer publishes only a profile image: about 40 m at the start, near sea level from 6 km, and flat thereafter.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. Plan every cut-off on the gun clock, not your chip time

The seven-hour limit and all nine provisional cut-offs run from the 09:10 gun. Rear corrals cross at about 09:40, leaving roughly 6 h 30 net: be past Sukiyabashi, 33.5 km, by 14:35 and Shiba Park, 38.5 km, by 15:20.

    More detail

The seven-hour limit and all nine provisional cut-offs run from the 09:10 gun. The rearmost corrals reach the start at about 09:40, so a back-corral runner has roughly 6 h 30 net and must be past Sukiyabashi at 33.5 km by 14:35 and Shiba Park at 38.5 km by 15:20.

  2. Choose the baggage service when you enter

The 12 US dollar baggage check can only be selected at entry and cannot be added or changed later. The start in Nishi-Shinjuku and the finish at Tokyo Station are in different districts, so decide at entry how your warm clothes will reach the finish.

  3. Be in Tokyo by Saturday 6 March

Bibs are issued only in person with photo identification at Tokyo Big Sight in Ariake on 4 and 5 March until 20:30 and on 6 March until 17:30, with no race-day pickup. Corrals are assigned at entry and cannot be changed.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Asia/Tokyo.

Time limit: Seven hours from the 09:10 gun; the finish closes at 16:10

How this sheet applies the limit

The organizer states a seven-hour limit measured from the 09:10 starting gun, with the finish closing at 16:10; entry itself requires the ability to finish within 6 h 30. Provisional 2027 cut-offs at nine points are published, from Ichigaya-Mitsuke at 4.9 km (10:25) through Sukiyabashi at 33.5 km (14:35) to Shiba Park at 38.5 km (15:20), all on the same gun clock; the rearmost runners reach the start line at about 09:40, which leaves them roughly 6 h 30 net. This sheet checks the 16:10 finish clock only.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.
