Read the full course description

A flat road marathon on closed streets, measured to World Athletics and AIMS standards, that starts on the Quaibruecke and finishes on the Sechselaeutenplatz a few hundred metres away. The first 10 km are two city loops: out along Utoquai and Bellerivestrasse and back on Dufourstrasse, over the Quaibruecke again at km 4, up Bahnhofstrasse to Sihlstrasse at km 5, down Talstrasse and Alfred-Escher-Strasse past km 7, back along Mythenquai and General-Guisan-Quai, and over the bridge once more to Zuerichhorn at km 10. From Tiefenbrunnen the course follows the Seestrasse along the eastern shore through Zollikon, Kuesnacht at km 15, Erlenbach and Herrliberg to a turning loop in Meilen at about km 22, then returns the same way to Bellerivestrasse at km 35. The last 7 km repeat the western city loop in reverse via Mythenquai, Talstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse, add a short loop round the Muensterhof near km 41, and cross the Quaibruecke to the finish. The organizer's profile stays at about 410 m, with two gentle rises of under 10 m on the return near km 25 and km 33 to 34. The 12 aid stations with water, sports drink and food sit at six points, on Talstrasse, Mythenquai, Zuerichhorn, Zollikon, Erlenbach and Feldmeilen, each passed out and back, and pacers run for 3:00 to 5:30.

Three decisions to make before race day

  1. At the limit, the start-line crossing decides both deadlines

The finish closes at 13:45 and Meilen at 11:10, so a runner at the 5 h 30 limit must cross the start line by about 08:15 to make both.

    More detail

Net time is capped at 5 h 30, but the finish closes at 13:45, 5 h 45 after the 08:00 gun, and the Meilen turn at about km 22 closes at 11:10. On even 5 h 30 pace you reach Meilen about 2 h 52 after crossing the line, so a runner at the limit must cross by about 08:15 to meet both. A broom wagon follows from Meilen.

  2. Allow an hour on race morning, and time to walk to your block

Arrive an hour early and be in your block by 07:40; the walk to blocks such as F can be nearly 2 km, and the bag drop takes only the official starter bag.

    More detail

The organizer asks runners to arrive at least an hour early and stand in their block by 07:40, 20 minutes before the gun; the walk to blocks such as F can be nearly 2 km. The start is a rolling mass start by blocks set from your declared time. There is no shuttle, and the Sechselaeutenplatz bag drop, open 06:30 to 14:00, takes only the official starter bag.

  3. Collect your bib during Runners Week if you can, and decide on cover at entry

Bibs are not posted: collect yours at Ochsner Sport Pro from 6 to 10 April 2027. A last-minute race-morning desk opens 06:00 to 07:30, which the organizer strongly advises against. Places cannot be transferred; cancellation cover is sold only at entry.

    More detail

Bibs are not posted: collect yours at Ochsner Sport Pro on Lagerstrasse, 300 m from Zurich HB, between Tuesday 6 and Saturday 10 April 2027; the daily hours are not yet published. A last-minute desk at the Ochsner Sport Cube on Europaplatz opens 06:00 to 07:30 on race morning, but the organizer strongly recommends collecting during Runners Week, and its marathon page mentions only Runners Week pickup. Places cannot be transferred, and the optional cancellation cover can only be bought at entry and ends once you collect your bib.

Target finish time, including stops

The initial value is the first published start, not your assigned wave. Europe/Zurich.

Time limit: 5 h 30 net time; the finish closes at 13:45

How this sheet applies the limit

The 2027 rules give 5 h 30 of net time, counted from your own crossing of the start line, and the finish closes at 13:45, so anyone crossing after 08:15 has less than the full 5 h 30. Runners who have not reached the Meilen turning point, at about km 22, by 11:10 must hand in bib and transponder, and a broom wagon follows the field from Meilen. Finishers outside the limit are not ranked. This sheet does not check the Meilen time.

A timing comparison, not a fitness assessment. Intermediate cutoffs, queues, weather and terrain are not modelled. Stops are spread evenly in the illustration; actual checkpoint times will differ.
