Turn a long trail into an editable multi-day plan. Split it into balanced daily stages, move the overnight boundaries, then keep one link with GPX, offline maps, and navigation for every day.

It stays on this device unless you choose Save & share trip.
Upload a GPX for any long trail — a national trail, a hut-to-hut route, a thru-hike, or a custom Planner route — and choose how many days you want. The builder splits the track into balanced stages by estimated time rather than raw distance, so a day with a big climb is not made unfairly long. Each stage shows its distance, ascent, descent and walking time (measured on the day's line by our route analysis), and you can download a GPX for any day or the whole trip as one file with a track per day.
Your GPX is parsed and split in your browser. It is uploaded only if you explicitly choose Save & share trip; that creates an unlisted public link that anyone with the URL can open.
It balances the days by our quick estimate of time (distance and climb), not just distance, so a big-climb day is not made unfairly long. Each day is then measured on its line, which can show some days longer than others on steep or rough ground: move a night to even them out.
Each day's line is measured by TrailSplits' route analysis: the paths it follows, the climb on terrain heights, and our hiking-time model (moving time, no breaks). Until a day is measured, and for running, the time is a quick estimate from distance and climb (about 4.5 km/h plus an hour per 400 m of climb walking). Outside Switzerland the model runs short of the times route operators publish, so treat walking times as optimistic and add for pack weight, ground and breaks.
Yes. Download any single day, or download the whole itinerary as one GPX with a separate named track per day, in a file your watch or phone app can import.
It is parsed and split in your browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose Save & share trip; then TrailSplits stores one private-link route snapshot and its day boundaries so your group can open the trip.
