Salet to Obersee and back

1.97 km · ↑ 40 m · ↓ 40 m · mapped track estimates

A short walk from the Salet boat landing, past Saletalm, to the western shore of Obersee. The national park recommends this lakeside approach for its view across the water into the surrounding mountains.

Effort & terrain

The park includes this outing among its easy walks. The boat operator gives about 15 minutes from Salet to Obersee. Allow longer for the return, photographs and the boat journey; the shore can be slippery when wet.

Season & stops

Plan around the seasonal Salet boat service and suitable path conditions. The operator's published 2026 Salet season was 25 April–11 October. Check the current timetable for the next operating period.

Getting to the start

Travel by passenger boat from Königssee/Seelände to Salet, about an hour each way according to the operator. Check tickets, queues and the last return boat before leaving. Weather can interrupt sailings.

Return & overnight choices

Return along the same path to Salet and take the boat back. Keep ample margin for the last sailing. The boat journey is additional to the walking track; onward walks to Fischunkelalm and the waterfall require extra time and planning.

Route variants, figures & sources

The selected track connects Salet landing, Saletalm and Obersee's west shore, then retraces the approach. The park's general Obersee description and the boat operator together locate this outing at the southern end of Königssee.

Distances and elevation profiles follow each selected track. Climb uses the same GPX calculation as the Planner. These are map-based estimates; check local signs, weather and operating services for your day.
