Winter hiking in St. Moritz and the Upper Engadine
Three routes on the high valley floor: past the lakes from St. Moritz to Maloja, along the river meadows from Samedan to La Punt, and out and back from Morteratsch station. Each is on the official list of Swiss winter hiking trails, with a map and a free GPX.
Before you go: is it open today?
Winter paths open, close and are prepared from day to day, and lifts and mountain railways keep their own winter timetables. This page cannot say what is open today.

Each route below also links to its page at SwitzerlandMobility. Daylight in mid-January: about 08:00 to 16:58 (8 h 58) on a flat horizon; mountains shorten it in the valleys.

About these routes
Routes, figures and difficulty come from the official list of Swiss winter hiking trails (Winterwanderwege) kept by the Federal Roads Office FEDRO with SwitzerlandMobility, the cantons and the Swiss Hiking Trail Association: SwitzerlandMobility's selection, as listed for winter 2025/26 (dataset updated 23 January 2026). Walking times are the source's, for the way the line is drawn. TrailSplits has not walked these routes; signs and conditions on site decide.
